Mothercare Genie Second Seat Unit - Clay

+ I absolutely love the style/colour and the expensive look the pram has.
It's very comfortable no matter what age child is in it.
You can only have both Seats parent facing so if your child likes to see the world. This is most definitely not the pram for you, they just stare at the back of a seat/carry cot when sitting in the seat unit.
    - As a single I couldn't fault it, it's a beautiful and easy pram. However, as a double, you cant see the front of the pram therefore walk into things 9 times out of ten.
It's a nightmare to push as a double but hasn't stopped me from using it.
If you want a cheap, double pram (that isn't frequently used as a double) this is perfect.

Still love my genie, despite all the bad things I've found. The good outweigh them for me :)

Mothercare Genie Second Seat Unit - Clay

+ I like the ease of use.
    - I was a bit disappointed that the second seat unit is not the same as the first in that it doesn't convert to lay completely flat and so doesn't come with any of the accessories that the main seat has to use with a new born.
I also think it would have been better if the main seat just sat slightly further towards the handle so you could have it completely flat and still fit the second unit facing forward rather than facing the main seat unit.

Mothercare Genie Second Seat Unit - Clay

+ Its spacious for my little boy to see out of unlike some of the other tandem prams where the older child literally looks up at the bottom of the babies pram.
    - Not come across anything bad yet, ideally it would be good if the second seat could be faced outwards while the baby pram is on but I was informed it was unable to be done unless it you use the 2nd seat with the baby car seat, its not a major issue though, but if it's done for safety reasons then that's a good enough reason for me.

Mothercare Genie Second Seat Unit - Clay

+ I bought this because I needed a double buggy that can fit on a London bus. It squashes down to a single size buggy, if another buggy user needs to use the buggy space. You have to get the older child out, and take out the seat and shopping out, before jiggling it into the single mode, which is a bit of a hassle but simple once you've done it a few times.

It's got the same footprint as my old single buggy, the Xpedior, so I find it easy to move around and get through doors.

It fits in my hallway cupboard, in single mode, so I don't have to fold it down all the time to store it away.

Decent storage space under the pram (in single mode).

I like that the flexibility of seat positions and can have the older one facing out and the little one facing me.
    - It took me ages to figure out how to fold down the chassis - it's not obvious, and I'm pretty practised in folding various makes and models of prams and pushchairs, so if it's not obvious to me it would be impossible for people like grandparents who don't do it often.

Only fits in the car boot if you take a back wheel off, which means your hands get covered in dirt.

You can't see the child on the back seat because they're obscured by the front seat.

People stare and comment because it looks quite unusual/long when fully extended!

My older child can wriggle her arms out from under the harness, and the straps are quite hard to adjust.

+ Fantastic solution for us having a newborn and 20 month old. The fact it can be used as a single buggy and converted to a double when the eldest still wants a nap on the go.
    - With the elder and therefore heavier child over the front wheels it does make steering more difficult especially on slopes and cambered surfaces.

    + Looks amazing.

As a single pushchair is easy to steer.

    Comes apart easily.
    - Small basket underneath and hard to get to when two seats in place.

Front wheels keep locking every few metres making it really hard to steer round corners.

No option to put heavier child in the back - all the weight is being put on the front wheels and front bar of the chassis.

Extremely difficult to steer with two children in it.

Mothercare Genie Second Seat Unit - Clay

+ The seat and double buggy are solid and well made, they open and close easily and can stand in a corner out of the way, the buggy can be used as a single or double using the expansion on the front, when you compare the genie to other makes it stand up against other double systems not only on price but on ease of use and versatility and I would recommend to others.
    - The two seats are different, they should be the same, both should have the cross bar on the front, would make the user feel more comfortable about the front child, this is down to two reasons, the front chair hangs to far over the front, when u collapse the expansion you have a black stopper a small adjustment and you could have both seats fixed facing forwards without the need to expand, changing this to having both seats facing backwards means they feel more secure but makes the basket unusable for a medium size baby bag, make the seat fixings the same, making both seats interchangable, more apealing? if you are not going to provide two seats the same make the fixings the same so you could have the more secure seat, the one with the cross bar, at the front
